Thunder Bay is Represented at a 4th of July Parade

July 4, 2016

This 4th of July Thunder Bay players and families had the amazing opportunity to represent our club in a 4th of July parade. A huge thank you to our "Parade Squad" for an amazing job at the Brandon parade this morning! We are so proud of how our players and volunteers represented the club in this event. It could not have been a more successful outing. Our players wowed the judges at the Reviewing Stand, and people up and down the parade route were impressed by what they saw. Way to go, everyone!

18's Elite Take First in Gold

 

Our 18's Elite team swept throught the competition this weekend during the MLK tournament. By the end of the tournament Head Coach Javier Fortuño had succesfully led his team to a first place finish in the Gold division. The 18's ended with a record of 8-0. Congratulations 18's! 11's Team Gets Second in Gold

 

The 11s played fantastic this weekend for their first tournament in Clearwater for the New Years Classic. They went 4-1 and were runner up for the gold division. 14's Elite Win First in Bronze

 

Our 14's Elite team played fantastic this weekend for their first tournament in Orlando for the MLK Tournament. They went 6-3 and Coach Jorge Garbey was able to lead his team to first place finish in the Bronze bracket. Excellent Job 14's, we are so proud of you girls! To see our tournament gallery click HERE. 16's Elite Brings Home the Gold

 

Our 16s Elite team came ready to play this weekend. All our Elite teams headed out to Orlando this extended weekend to play in the MLK tournament. Coach Magaly Carvajal led her team to victory with an ending record of 8-1. Congratulations 16's! Way to bring in the first Gold medals of the season! To see our tournament gallery click HERE. Coaches Meeting at Latin Grill

 

Last Saturday our decorated Thunder Bay coaches met to discus the future of the club. There was a lot of vision casting about where we as a club are headed and everyone left the meeting excited about what is to come. All the coaches shared how their teams were doing and how the latest tournaments went. We as a club are dedicated to making sure that all our coaches are up to date and informed on the inner workings of the club so that we stand united. Go Thunder Bay!

Conditioning with Emerson Morris

 

This week began the first week of conditioning with Emerson Morris, a trained and certified personal trainer. The girls were hard working in the gym Monday and Tuesday to improve upon their craft, but they did not even touch a volleyball. The dedication, time, and effort these girls are putting in to the sport that they love is such an inspiration. Keep it up girls! Go Thunder Bay!

 

2015/2016 Season Begins with a Bang

 

Last Saturday kicked off our 2015/2016 Season with our parent/player meeting. It was a huge success with nearly our entire club present for the meeting. Thank you to all the board memebers and parents who made this day a possiblity and such a huge success. Thank you to our coaches for being the best coaching staff in the county. Thank you parents for being apart of this amazing start off. And last but defintely not least, big thank you to our players without you none of this would be possible. Now it is time to hit the gyms and go to work. Thank you TBVA family for always bringing the boom! Go THUNDER BAY!!!!

Catching up with Alumni Chelsea Chavers

 

Recently the College of Central Florida won their conference and are now 2015 Mid-Florida Conference Champions. The Patriots were able to beat Santa Fe College to clinch the Mid-Florida Confernce Championship. The Patriots beat SFC in four sets in a very tight match. Thunder Bay Goes to Sarasota

 

Thunder Bay coaches and players recently had the opportunity to go to Sarasota and lead a clinic of twenty plus girls. It was extremely successful as the coaches were able to impart basic technical skills to the next generation of volleyball players.

 

Thunder Bay Players Sweep the Highschool Arena

 

Back in Decemeber The Tampa Tribune came out with an aritcle selecting several girl from Hillsborough county for first and second team as well as honorable mentions. After looking over the article we realized that a multitued of our Thunder Bay girls had either made second team or horable mentions. We would like to give a huge shout out to Terra Brooks (Strawberry Crest) for making second team, and Emma Rustenberghe (Durant), Sarah Herman (Durant), Mikayla Gibson (East Bay), Hannah Gallagher (Seffner Christian), Krista Trimble (Seffner Christian), Emma Noskey (Seffner Christian), and Abigail Casiano (Tampa Bay HEAT) for making horable mentions. Thunder Bay Summer Explosion Camp Comes to an End

 

The camp was a huge success! Three days of training and learning came to a close yesterday. It ended with a bang with the help of Head Coach Nick Cheronis of Santa Fe College. He taught the girls several hitting techniques and spoke to the girls about college training and what it takes to become a college athlete. Thank you to all the coaches, players, and leaders who made this camp possible and such a success.  

 

 

Assistant Coach Marcela Gurgel from Georgia Tech Calls Into Camp

 

Assistant coach Marcela Gurgel called into camp today to talk to the girls about college. She was able to answer the girls questions about the college life of a student athlete, the recruitment process, and other great information about college. Thank you Coach Gurgel for taking time to talk with our girls.

Head coach Shaquana Veney from Virginia Union University came to the Thunder Bay Summer Explosion Camp this week to train the girls. She also provided a valuable question and answer session with the girls to talk about college and things that coaches look for. Thank you coach Q. for everything you gave to our girl and the knowledge you brought. 

 

16 Open took the Bronze in the Florida Regional 2015

 

Congratulations to the Thunder Bay 16 Open coach Craig Collins and team for winning the bronze in the Florida Regional Qualifier. We are very proud of you.

 

National Letters of Intent (NLI) - Class of 2015

 

Corey Perkins (left) and Ariana Mosley (right) signed National Letters of Intent on November 12, 2014 to play college volleyball.  Corey continues her playing career with the University of Delaware while Ariana will play for the Air Force Academy. 

Thunder Bay 18 Open player Nicole Kraning signed

 

The Thunder Bay Volleyball Academy 18 Open team player Nicole Kraning signed Letter of Intent to play college volleyball with Emmanuel College.  Thunder Bay Volleyball Academy family wants to congratulate Nicole and wish her the best in this new challenge.

17s Elite 1st Place Bronze and 18s Elite 1st Place Silver at the Tallahasse Invitational

 

Congratulations to our 17s Elite Team for their 1st Place Bronze Division victory and 18s Elite for their 1st Place Silver Division placing at the Tallahassee Invitational tournament.  We are proud of our girls and for what they have acomplished this weekend. Go Thunder Bay!

Local team wins gold at USA Volleyball nationals

Teddi Wright and The Lady Conquistadors Advances to National Tournament

 

The Lady Conquistadors became Region X/District P champions after defeating Catawba Valley Community College in four sets on Saturday, November 8.  Sophomores Logan Miller, opposite hitter, and Toni Imbimbo, libero, shined for the Conquistadors, with Miller recording a team-high of 15 kills and Imbimbo notching 31 digs. Freshman setter Teddi Wright also showcased an impressive performance, tallying 50 of the team’s 52 total assists.  The team finished the night with 95 digs and hit a .223 as a team.

 

Receiving all tournament team accolades were sophomore outside hitter Jordan Bickett and freshman setter Teddi Wright. Additionally, sophomore opposite hitter, Logan Miller, was honored as the tournament’s most valuable player.  The team has now advanced to 38-5 for the season and will travel to Phoenix, Ariz. November 20-22 to compete for the 2014 NJCAA Division II National Volleyball Championship.

Delaware Volleyball Adds Four High School Standouts For 2015 Season

Chelsea Chavers signed Letter of Intent

 

Thunder Bay Volleyball Academy congratulates Chelsea Chavers in signing the Letter of Intent to play at College of Central Florida.  Coach Flavia Siqueira is very excited to have Chelsea as part of her college team.
